Newbie on a mission!

Hey everyone!
So I have been reading through the boards and through the site in general and I am hoping I can get your help. I am feeling slightly overwhelmed to be honest.
From looking at the hair type analysis I believe I am a type 2a. I have some wave to my hair but my hair is partially wavy and partially straightish. My hair is fine but i have a lot of it. Also it has been colored.
My question to you is will the CG method work for me? When I've tried curling my hair with an iron the curls never stay in my hair no matter how much product i throw in.
If you do think it could work can you suggest some lightweight products, I have a problem with my hair looking oily as is sometimes (usually the 2nd day though) I am on a budget so hopefully something reasonably priced.
Thanks for your help. Hopefully I can ditch the overwhelmed feeling and embrace my waviness.
Welcome Wavyrayne. Everyone eventually hits the completely overwhelmed stage. It will get better, I promise. CG works for some people, but not for others. There is no real way to predict this. There are several CG wavies here with fine hair, including me. I think a good next step is to figure out your hair's properties and find someone with hair like you. To figure out properties:
Curl pattern, texture, thickness

Porosity

Elasticity
determining porosity and elasticity help?
Then search this thread to find someone with your hair's properties. Then steal their ideas.

You may find that CG makes your hair less oily. Pre CG I had to wash every 36 hours. That boiled down to everyday. Post CG I get 3rd day hair.
Well I hope I made you less overwhelmed rather then more overwhelmed.

Low Poo: renpure (red), Ion swimmers
Thanks for the help. I'm starting to wonder if I'm actually in the 1 catagory instead of the 2 due to the fact that my hair seems wavy in the front and straighter in the back.
I did cowash today and plunked my hair after and got a bit more wave to the front but the back still doesn't seem to have much wave.
From reading the info about porosity and elasticity it seems I have low elasticity and low porosity in my hair.
A lot of wavies have uneven wave pattern, including myself. The back of my head is much less wavy than the rest. For a lot of us, it's just part of being a wavy.
