Red!

Today I took my once-every-four-months trip to the stylist, and I got a trim (about 3/4 inch) and some RED dye.

Pics are below (she blew it out -- it was nice to see how long it's gotten). I was wondering if anyone know of any color-depositing condishes that are CG? I looked at some at Whole Foods, but all of them had dimethicone in them.

TIA, ladies!

I wonder if the Loreal line you can get at Ulta is CG? They have a TON of different colors, and I know that the Artec line has quite a few silicone free condishes. It is possible that they might be CG.

AND IT looooooooks great! I am just gonna have my hair stylist blow it out straight because I just hate to see how they can't style my hair curly. it hurts.

LOOOOOOooOOOOOve the color. I really like how your hair looks straight too. You looked fantastic in your before picture. But between the cut, color, and new products you've really upped the fabulous factor.

Aw, sad that they can't style it curly for you! My stylist gave me the choice, but since I literally haven't worn it straight since I went mod-CG in November, I thought it would be a fun change. I'll probably get it wet before Monday (and wash it to get out the heat protectant) and get back to my curly self.

I'm headed to Ulta's site now. I know if nothing else I can use Pureology. It doesn't deposit, but it's very color-safe. I'm still going to use all my other stylers/etc. If the color fades faster b/c of my curls, so be it!

Harumph. All the "for red hair" condishes that I've found at Ulta and Sephora's sites have 'cones.

I have a henna-infused shampoo that only has the a-cone (my hair doesn't mind it in moderation), so it looks like that + my normal routine will have to do. I'll also have to make sure to do pre-poo treatments, as I hear that cuts down on fading.

And Peda, thanks! I like how it looks straight, too. It's just a lot more work, and I'm not a fan of the damage I do to it when I blow it out. Not to mention when it's straight I literally can't stop touching it.

have you looked into Aveda?>
I can't find the ingredients.
http://www.aveda.com/templates/produ...CT_ID=PROD5808

ETA:
Product Features
  • Enriches warm tones in dark and red shades of hair
  • Intensive conditioning formula rejuvenates and refreshes color, leaving hair shiny, silky and manageable
  • Contains plant-derived color and organically grown herbs.
  • Not recommended for blonde or grey hair.
ETA:
After reading the ingredients on the bottles, I noticed that the conditioner has henna as a top ingredient, along with red clover and red madder root. I was curious as to how this would affect my hair. If the henna would make a difference to the color would affect the texture, shine or condition of my hair.

Wavy, I'll also look for the ingredients to the Aveda line. I liked their products pre-CG, but I hadn't used them in a few years.

Ooh, your hair looks awesome! Love the colour!

I thought about the Aveda too but also couldn't find the ingredients. I did find this thread on longhaircommunity though where someone was posting that she was reluctant to try Aveda's Madder Root conditioner because she'd been avoiding 'cones, so that must mean there are 'cones in it somewhere, although I can't find any official cite.

Here's the link to the thread in case anyone's curious:

Deva does have a red conditioner too as AlexJouJou mentioned. The CurlMart listing for it says that it has amodimethicone, though. Boo-urns!

And I'd also love a cone-free red colour depositing conditioner so I'll be watching this thread, hehe.

Rinni, DRAT, I missed the A-cone. I may have to try it anyway - my hair hasn't reacted poorly to the a-cone thus far, if I'm sure that I'm low-pooing once a week. May as weel try it, huh?

Oh, I was posting while you were posting before And yeah, totally, might as well give it a whirl! I know that Deva reformulated their regular One Condition to remove amodimethicone, maybe they reformulated the red one too and it just hasn't been changed on the ingredients list yet? Stranger things have happened!

(Too many exclamation points in this post. I'd ask someone to take away my exclamation point key, but then I couldn't write the number 1 either. And yes, I originally finished that sentence with yet another exclamation point, backspaced and added a period. I must be stopped.)

Dangit! They discontinued the DevaRed line, and the L'Oreal Artec red line has 'cones.

Pretty color, finale!

I think MOP may have a color-safe line?

It's encouraging to know that one is out there (even if it's pretty danged pricey). I think I'm going to just go with a color-safe, not color-depositing shampoo and condish to use in rotation. A few friends of mine use MOP, and the MOP-C line is supposed to be color-safe. And sold at Ulta.

Thanks for all the compliments, ladies. I love the color, though it's a little more subtle than I wanted (but this means it will fade/grow out nicely, since I only go once every three months). I'm already sick of the blow-out. I can't wait until I get to low-poo (to get the silicones out) and get back to my curly self!

I know some aveda products have cones, but there are quite a few that don't, for instance the shampure line. I'd definitely look into Aveda. Maybe give a store a call and ask for the ingredients...if the trek is a big one to one of their stores.
I may do this, Wavy. I really did like Aveda before. But, Ulta is right around the corner, and I'd be happy to have some MOP in my shower, just to know that I have a color-safe shampoo/condish in there for rotation. I'm pretty sure she used a demi on me, b/c it was our first color deposit, so I don't really want to invest in a more expensive color-depositing condish until I've decided if I'm staying with the red.
