I had a chance to sample some of this at Whole Foods, and went ahead and did so as my hair was still damp(and had some LALSG in it(my current gel). Wow - what curl enhancement! Now, the questions are, since this stuff is more expensive than what I usually buy:
- Is this a replacement for gel?
- Is it strictly a curl enhancer, not a styler, like a gel?
- Does one use it UNDER gel, or all by itself(my hair is thick and needs a lot of hold)?
- Finally, is it the same sort of product as the much-cheaper EcoStyler at Sally Beauty Supply that a number of people rave about here?
I do have mixed texture, 2c-3a that is fine-ish to medium in texture and a lot of it, so I need really good hold. Fancy curl creams don't do it for me, like at the salon. They'll look nice for exactly an hour(or less)and then the hold disappears altogether. Currently, and for years, I've been using LA Looks gels, first starting with the old light green Mega gel, then the Curl Look one(I'm still bemoaning the discontinuing of this)and currently the Sports version. Hold is excellent, curl good, but I was truly amazed at the increase in CURL formation from even putting a little bit of the KCC in informally at the store.
I did a YouTube search for KCC, and most of what I came up with were African American women using it - is it still OK for Caucasian curly hair? I would think so.
I'd love to know a little more before popping for even the small jar of the KCC, which costs $18 at Whole Foods. But I do like the fact that it's more natural too.
Thanks anyone for any thoughts!
