It's so much easier to grab pasta/pizza/sandwiches when out.
It's a PITA to cook a steak or a porkchop or a chicken breast every night. And cold salad doesn't always hit the spot.
But yeah, I believe low carb is best (even when there is a lot of fat involved).
Try vanilla whey powder. Tastes awesome blended with ice, a splash of coffee, a tsp of nutella or cocoa powder, a splash of soy milk..
