I find it easier to get second day hair with shorter hair -- mine is maybe an inch or two past my jaw. I use a satin sleep cap as my second day hair "tool" and it is easier to use when I have less hair.

Lately I've been having great luck using Spiral Solutions CEJ with Biotera Glaze on top (this is the consistency of Curl Keeper -- it's near the Biotera Gel in Sally's). Then I wrap my hair in a flour sack towel for about 10-15 min while I towel off, etc. To finish, I use LA Looks Sport Gel and clip by my part (to get volume). I let my hair air dry for about an hour, then finish with a diffuser.

With this combo, and sleeping in the sleep cap at night, I always get good second day hair. I just take it out of the cap, gasp at how crazy it looks and then move my hair into place, fluff it where necessary, maybe smooth down an errant curl with my hand -- I don't use any stylers on the second day.

Good luck!! I just know you'll hit on the magic combination for your second day hair too! :-)
