Actually, I seal after my LI, to help lock in the moisture, but before my styling product. You're on the right track - sealing is to help seal the hair shaft so the moisture stays in your hair instead of drying out throughout the day. This is essential for me once the temperatures and dew points start to drop (I can get away without it in the summer time). If you don't want to add an extra step, you could try mixing the oil with your LI, or even with your styling product (gel, jelly, curl cream, etc.).

fine, dense, normal porosity/elasticity, dry climate
My favorite brands are Kinky Curly, As I am, Curly Kinks, Curl Junkie, and Darcy's Botanicals. Also love sealing with oils (loving argan oil right now) and styling with jelly products (KCCC is my current favorite). Mostly trying to keep it simple!
