I actually had only a very slight wave until puberty, but I always wanted curly hair, so at the end of the 8th grade I decided to give myself a perm at home. Lol, bad idea. I decided to let it grow out even though I hated my not quite wavy natural hair. To my disbelief, it grew in very wavy/curly! (2b/c/3a). Of course, my parents did were not quite as happy because they thought I did another perm, lol. So for the next 3 years I had to try to convince them that the curls were real.
