The expectation that most people are "supposed" to have straight hair is soooo stupid. One thing I learned from this site and the Curly Girl book is that there are more people with wavy or curly hair than straight hair. The companies that make flat irons and straightening products most likely know this, and want to make the biggest profits they can, by going after the majority of consumers. Ugh. No thanks.
Like most people who have been pre-CG, I own a (thankfully rarely used) flat iron, but with my dense hair, it was always such a pain in the butt to use that I've never bothered to invest in any updated versions or straightening balms, heat protectants, etc.
2c, fine, extremely dense, color-treated, high porosity. Medium length (longest layer just grazes my shoulders).
