I'm not rich. Most of the food I eat is pretty cheap/casual, with fine dining restaurants being occasional treats. I'm aware of the vast quality difference in restaurants in New York and even Boston versus the southern US, though, so I can see why you'd link non fast food with being expensive. We have tons of great casual restaurants in NYC. When I've been down south I end up kinda depressed at how few restaurants there are that aren't crappy chains.
