Other hair properties are usually more important for styling purposes rather than wave pattern. I'd rather have all the wavies on one forum than having to look through 3 different ones! 
My hair is cut into long layers. My underlayer is stick straight, so it's cut a tiny bit shorter so that it isn't longer than my wavy hair.
