I had lupron about 2 months or so prior to my lap-assisted hysterectomy back in 1999. Lupron basically puts you into immediate (temporary) menopause. It pretty much stops the bleeding and starts the hot flashes - and any other symptom of menopause you can think of. The reason I did it was so that my hemoglobin could build back up enough to allow a safe level for surgery. Otherwise I would have required a blood transfusion prior to the surgery. The recovery from a lap-assisted hysterectomy wasn't nearly as bad as the recovery from my previous 3 c-sections. In fact, I had relatives from out of town stay with us the week after my lap-assisted surgery. (I do NOT recommend that, however!) Best of luck with whatever you both decide.
