If I catch it right away, about4 Advil or slow excedrine migraine can fend it off a little. Drinking (really, chugging) about 40 ounces ow water as soon as I notice the aura starting (I get an aura well before any pain) is actually the most effective treatment I've found.

However, none of these are really all that effective, so I take a daily pill to prevent migraines. It works great for me. Propranolol, which is also sometimes prescribed for anxiety, but is most often used as a blood pressure medication.
