I like using castor oil straight up. My hair is pretty thick so it can handle the heaviness. I actually like it cuz I can really feel the oil going from my fingertips to my roots/scalp. I'm also using it on my daughters hair. Her hair is really fine but when I use just a little and part through her hair its fine. And her hair is sooo soft once it soaks in! I'm basically using it on her so her hair will thicken up on the right side.
It also it softening up my ends a whole lot. I'm wetting my hair a little in sections, putting a small amount of shea moisture, and then some castor oil. I twist the chunk and let it soak in then take it down and do my mini twists. Mmmmm my hair feels so good....LOL. I just wanted to tell y'all that.
Also I tried mixing it with coconut but I didn't like the smell. It doesn't smell bad, but not all that. I guess I like them separate
