I see it more w/ nonAmerican born people in the US. I like the idea; it's so much cleaner not to have to track shoe muck inside. But shoe thieves ruin it for everyone.

But whenever I go to someone's house/apt, I ask if they'd prefer I remove my shoes (inside the door).

(We had a long thread about that.)
