Depends what method you use - if you do Supersoaker, I guess you'd apply the gel to soaking hair. I think many people here put it in their damp hair, or after they have scrunched out a lot of water. You put the very firm hold gel in your hair, and then let your hair dry naturally. The important part is absolutely do NOT touch your hair till it is bone-dry! lol! Then, you gently break the hard gel "cast" by scrunching your hair upwards with your hands. (SOTC)

The hard gel sets the curls as they dry, leaving you with more curl definition/hold. Hth!
