You also need to know if your hair is fine, medium or coarse. Coarse hair becomes straw like when it gets a lot if protein. Fine hair needs protein to be healthy.

I like tresseme Naturals and Jessicurl Too Shea conditioners. The consistencies are more like lotion - solid but liquid enough to be easily absorbed into the hair. My hair is on the coarse side so I look for conditioners with little protein and lots of humectants. Also don't use a lot of glycerin if you live in a very humid or arid place.
