I tried going cone free too, but I had the same issue - not enough slip.
My hair loves and needs cones. It's fine, so tangles easily.
I cowash every day, and still don't need to shampoo often. My last shampoo was ages ago!
My current favourite conditioner is an AtOne one. It has CRAZY slip, like egg whites and mucus. I love it. Full of cones but *shrug* it makes my hair really soft.
stretched (longest it's ever been and growing rapidly!), past shoulder curly. Hair goal is hip length.
