I've never understood the "sealing with oil strategy" for fine hair. Doesn't it just weigh your hair down? I have had no luck at all with this method.

I never "bought" the sealing thing until one day I tried it on a whim - and it worked!

Here's the thing, tho. For me, I CANNOT use EVOO or EVCO, bc both penetrate the hair shaft, and therefore add weight and leave me a little greasy. (I can only use EVCO in the warmer months, when it will stay liquidy, anyhow. But I use either as a DT or pre-poo year round, tho.)

For natural oils, jojoba has worked well. I also have used SM Elixir as a sealer and a refresher. I have yet to try Grapeseed oil as a sealer, but its wonderful as a refresher.

But my all-time HG sealer, year round but especially in the summer, is mineral oil. I was EXTREMELY skeptical, but again tried it on a whim after reading a couple recent articles on it on NC.

It was PERFECTION!! Kept the humidity out of my hair, and holds moisture in well, too!
