I live in MN. Hands down, the best boots I've ever had are Keen's Betty Boots - extremely comfortable, very lightweight, very warm, and great traction on snow & ice.

Not exactly high fashion, but they are seriously the most fantastic boots ever. And I've tried many of those recommended above (Sorel, Northface, etc.).
