Was the porosity test the float test? There's been a lot of discussion on here over the accuracy of the float test... Other ways to determine porosity involve hair (without product) drying time, how easily your hair gets wet, whether or not your cuticle is rough when you run your fingers up it.

Density can determined by measuring the circumference of your hair in a ponytail.

For texture you can look at the individual strands and see if they're nearly invisible. I actually used a micrometer to measure couple individual strands.
