I have the same problem with my hair unless I wash w/sulfates a few times a week. Check out the posts about co-washing w/hard water (basically it's impossible).
Seriously, cut out all oils (olive oil is 1 way ticket to crunchy hair-if you're low porosity. Hard water can mimick this), proteins, and 'cones. Start washing twice a week w/a basic shampoo & condish. The clearifying stuff is way too drying, my personal HG is sauve naturals green apple and it's only $1 a bottle!
