Try 1st raking in very very wet hair followed by smoothing, I find that a good use of both techniques makes both product distribution and clumping. This is one of methods that works for me. I cant do lot of scruching though, my course curly strands starts to frizz out. So I do a 1 closed palm scrunch and let it alone(I do 4 sections of scrunch).Hope this helps
