Hi, I am a stylist (over 25 years) that specializes in curly hair. I took the NYC DevaCurl 3-Day Advanced Training in NYC.
I asked Shari Harbinger (the DevaCurl Director of Education) why the DevaCurl One-Curl-At-A-Time techniques was abandoned.

She said, "We have evolved our technique since the curl by curl approach because we found that this approach was not as accurate as the newly taught approach. "

When I took the training, elevation was definitely taught in their technique.

Best,
