Glycerin can be a factor for low dew points, but I'd worry more about the protein. It might be ok ocasionally but since it's in both yr products yr getting a double dose (especially if yr hair isn't loving it).
I (thought) I had course/dry hair till I cut all protein containing products out. Now its soft and bordering on fine. Some hair can't take protein (hard water prolly has something to do w/this).
As for shampoo, because of the SLS stay away from "clarifying"-its just too strippy. A reg shampoo is fine and start using lots more condish & leave to soak on yr hair for a good 10-15 mins (like a mini DT).
