I have never had Graston, but I've been seriously considering it for my IT band if I can't get it better very soon (I have a marathon in three weeks).
I have never had bad PF, just a couple of mild episodes where I could pinpoint the stupid thing I did to cause it.
I do think it is a good idea to go to a chiro or PT though - someone that can look at your whole body and figure out where you might have weaknesses that stress that particular foot. I know my IT band problems are a result of weak quads - I can run 20 miles without batting an eye, but 20 leg raises focused on the weak part of my right quad nearly kills me.
