The best birthday cake I've ever had was the white almond cake w/ buttercreme icing from Giant Eagle. OMG!

I LOVE almond cake but I almost always hate plain buttercream frosting. I don't know what it is. It always tastes like straight butter or straight sugar to me. It's slightly more palatable if it's chocolate, but even then. If cream cheese frosting is an option, I will always go with that. I even prefer icing (the kind that's basically all confectioner's sugar) to buttercream frosting.
