I've found double plopping to work better too. I wash at night so if my hair isn't at least mostly dry it will still be damp in the morning. I recently began letting my hair air dry some between the plops too, I haven't got the timing down yet but 20-30 mins works okay. I've also tried plopping my hair behind my head for the second plop rather than on top. I'm getting more end 'curl' and volume this way (I'm wavy so 'curl' is relative). I haven't managed to get all my nice curl and volume to last through the next day yet but I don't like producty hair so it's a trade off. I'm using flour sack cloths from target, 4 for $5.
