: I second mixedcurlygirl
I can say this from experience. I made the mistake of not loving my hair and started from scratch. It was a long journey but as I was trying to go waistlength I avoided the hairdresser for a year. When I finally went back she trimmed as little as possible like I asked but I could barely run my fingers through my hair. I went in and another more "honest" trim a few weeks later and believe me I am loving it. Sometimes you just gotta do it. Its better than getting your hair where you want it only to go back and realize it was all temporary and be back at square 1.
Sometimes I get carried away and manipulate him too much. He tells me he's fine on his own but I never listen. I wash him less now and all in all we're happy.
