Default how much do you change up your gym routine?

I do a lot of cardio, with some strength training (trying to work my way up to heavier weights!), but I'm wondering if I should change up my routine and add more strength training so I don't plateau. I honestly don't know anything about how that works?

thoughts? recommendations?
