The best way to wash it put is with believe it or not conditioner. It sounds like it wouldn't work at forst but conditioner will emulsify the oil (i.e. make the oil and water mix) thus making it come out of your hair. Experiment with different oils and see what you like. Coconut oil can make your ends crispy in winter or if your just protein sensitive. I would reccomend jojoba or avocado. Olive oil is great too but it can be heavy. I usually don't leave mine overnight and you can wrap your head in a warm towel to help it really do its magic. Hope I helped.
