Why is it that everything I have ever read about Vincent Van Gogh never truly captured the majesty of his paintings, the horror of his illness and the sadness of his death and yet one episode of stinking Doctor Who that merely fictionalized Van Gogh was able to clarify so much about his life, death and his works? Yes, there was an alien serial killer chicken in that episode, but if you look past the sci-fi, it gives a beautiful, gentle, humanizing view on talent, a person's feelings of self-worth and delicate insight into the tragedy of suicide.

Two days later and I still tear up when I think about it.
