Wow, that's awesome. I'm super lazy with preping my gelatin. I pretty much never boil it. I use to just microwave it until it was really hot, but now I just use very hot tap water. I put the powder in a little jar, then I mix in some ACV and really hot tap water. Then I jump in the shower. I shake that up until it's mostly mixed. Then I mix in Aubrey's Organics GPB condish, and that's my protein treatment. It usually combines well enough. I leave it on my hair as I take a long shower, and wash it out at the end. It works ok for me; I can definitively tell that it makes a difference.
