I am not sure on oil... other than that my hair doesn't seem to like coconut oil. It doesn't make mine soft like people say, and it's hard to wash out. I was using an argan oil set for a while (shampoo, conditioner, and penetrating oil) and still use the oil from time to time in very small amounts, and it was great for a while but I think it started to build up. Though those products also have cones and polyquats I think (Organix brand). When I did my first PT and DT I tried a few different oils in small amounts and that was the time I really didn't get good results and it left my hair kind of producty and straight. The second time I think I ONLY used a little almond oil and that was when I skipped the DT and it was better.

HG: currently just washing with a low poo that contains protein (Alba Naturals Coconut) and using Suave Naturals Coconut as both a RO and LI. No stylers right now, but this gives me pretty good curl, definition, low-ish frizz, and it feels and looks good. Also an occasional PT (liking the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula which has cones) seems to be key for me.
