Welcome! Some damaged hair never recovers, others find it takes weeks or months, depends how bad the damage is. My damage was mechanical (ponytailing, brushing, twirling) and chemical (box dye), I had to cut out quite a few inches that were just beyond salvaging.
Be sure you are using ingredients proven to reduce porosity and patch repair hair - coconut oil, hydrolysed protein, ceramides and panthenol. Honey/ sugar syrup with coconut oil seems to make my hair curlier as well as softer and shinier.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG, growing out mechanical and chemical damage = breakage and very high porosity. Past armpit length heading for waist.
