the whole natural haven blog is excellent, the author has a science background and it shows, she generally summarises without dumbing down.

See if you can find the recent thread on conditioners v. Moisturisers, we went over various definitions of emollients. Basically to me they are softening agents so many ingredients have emollience as a secondary property, but the key emollients found in hair conditioners are the cationic surfactants and the fatty alcohols.
