First off I want to say to the person speaking on coconut oil, you do realize everyone is different?
Secondly to the person I quoted, I agree 100%. For me, it is all about how oils are used. I use coconut oil or Vatika oil as a pre-poo or a detangler on a tough tangle day.
I use grapeseed oil as my one and only leave-in because my hair hates products and conditioners. Grapeseed oil is said to be for everyone though I never like to make black and white statements about what can work for others. I never used to be able to get light oils to work on my hair and heavy oils just weighed my hair down. I discovered that the secret is to put the light oil on damp dry hair with no other products or added water and evenly distribute with a comb or paddle brush. Yes, my hair loves brushing as long as I do not brush wet hair.
I discovered my hair gets all the moisture it needs from the warm water in the shower, the water I drink, and my diet which I eat leafy greens. Then adding more water or water based products wreaks havoc and I end up with weak, dry hair that I have to constantly moisturize. Unthought I would never see the day that I could go without moisturizing it makes me want to cry! It also helps that I use natural cleansers like honey and brown sugar rather than shampoo.
