I found this. Very easy and laid out. I do not know if it's all the polyquats. This article isn't scholarly or anything, but should do the job none-the-less.

It says polyquat 10 is water soluable and polyquat 4 should have little build up, but those two are some of the most common offenders on this board, so I'm not sure how well this all translates. Of course many people use these products and have no issues with, so maybe some of us just have weird hair.
Unfortunately, I don't have any personal negative experiences with PQ's, but you are right, I have noticed 10 and 4 being a general issue on here. I don't know how accurate everything is. I just liked how it was so plainly laid out. Unfortunately I couldn't find more of a scholarly article, so this one is a little iffy since it has '.com,' but I figured it would assist with just a jump start at least.
