i dont think there is any honor in suicide and that we americans are shameless. i worry more for the young female viets who have it harder than their male counterparts. girls are expected to sacrifice more for the sake of the family. but with the low birthrate this way of thinking is slowly changing.

appropriate punishment would be a small fine and community service. a small fine would show that their actions have hurt their families financially. and im not talking just something as picking up garbage. for example boys would work at a battered women's shelter so they can see the results of violence towards females. or cooking and cleaning at a homeless shelter (something that viet men rarely do in the country). young girls could be placed at HIV center so maybe they can learn about the consequences of unprotected sex. it can all be interchangeable.
