I hadn't come to the same conclusion. My family has a person representing each hair type and we have literally been having "mixed" relationships and children for many generations. My grandmother has straight hair. I have a mix of 3b, 3c and 4a. I don't know why I am only allowed to choose one grade of hair on this site because many in my family have a mix of curl patterns. I've talked about the varying grades of hair in my family here My Royal Family 4: Quest For A Good Hair Day I understand your observation but I don't actually see 3b hair as the standard hair type. To me curls are as different as finger prints.
