Comments like this (though I know that you meant it as a compliment) are what make me wish I had straight/wavy/smaller hair. I lost count of the big hair jokes when I was about 10, and they still make me cringe/want to wear my hair up and hidden for the rest of my life. There is either something very wrong in my head, or I'm just not meant to be a curly (or a super dense 3c, anyway).

I have the same problem. My hair is just like yours just a little longer. I know people are being nice when they say they love how big it is or the happy "its soo poofy" but is makes me self conscious and then I pull it up. I've been embracing my hair for 2 years but still haven't built up the confidence to wear it fully down in public.
Unfortunately straight. I was in a wedding yesterday and the bride wanted us to have straightened hair. I used to love my hair straight, now I'm starting to dislike it... a lot! Curly is actually easier! And more ME!

In a single, bunny tail. It's finally long enough to do that. I just have a few short hairs on the left side which had to be held back with a comb. I guess I'm graduating from twa land into medium-fro land.
Whenever I get married, that's one thing I won't force people to do . . straighten their hair if their hair is natural. I'd just figure out a substitute style that I like just as much.
Substitute method of going straight without heat: full sew in...
I've done this a few times this year b/c I like rocking my hair straight, BUT I am trying not to straighten it for a few months...love it!
