2nd Day Hair

Hello Curlies,
So, thanks to this website, and to you awesome curliesss I have found some amazing advice on here. I have found awsome hair products that give me beautiful curls and advice on how to take care of my delicate coils.

Now, that aside, what i haven't to this day found is something that will give me second day hair. As my fellow 3a's you will know that it is hard to get second day hair that we're satisfied with. Or is that just me?

That is why I'm making this thread, so you gals can share with me: How do you get second day hair? techniques, products, and care.

Thanks in advance!!

Ohhhhh my gosh. No. It isn't just you. I can't get 2nd day hair, either. And that's okay with me. I actually prefer styling my hair every day. So, even if I just soak it in the shower (because I shower every morning), I'm still re-styling it from step one, basically.

It doesn't bother me much. I CANNOT shower at night. I don't function at night. I'm MUCH too tired to deal with all that and my patience is very thin. So, I'd just get fed up and angry with my hair. It just isn't worth it. So, since I always shower in the mornings, it doesn't bother me at all to go through the routine. It is what it is. And that's what works for me.

I also shower every morning!!!!

haha but sometimes the whole styling process takes way too long, well maybe not styling, but drying!!!

I'd love to be able to skip the drying at LEAST ONCE A WEEK!!!

hehe... sorry. Sometimes when I don't feel like going through it all, i just don't wet my hair in the shower, and I'll spray it a bit, and apply some gel on top. That seems to work just fine, but doesn't give me drop dead gorgeous curls

well, we can't have everything right?

I also shower/soak my hair every morning. When I wake in the morning, my hair is such a frizzy mess and I can face the day once it has been wetted and styled.

For me, the secret to second day hair is not in the products, it's in how I 'put my hair up' the night before. My HG product is a satin sleep cap -- you can find them at Wal-Mart and Sally Beauty for under $3.

I just flip my head over and tuck my hair into the cap, kind of like plopping but without a flour sack towel.

And that's it -- I wake up the next day, shake my hair out and arrange it, maybe smooth my hand down over any crazy areas, and that is it. I don't wet it, style it, nothing. I find that second day gives me a lot more volume, which I really like!

I can get third day hair this way also, but I've never tried going longer than that, lol.

Right now I've got second day hair using Kinky Curly Knot Today for my leave-in, Kinky Curly Tiny Twirls as my 'curl cream', and HE Totally Twisted for my gel.

I'm right there with you. Wishing I could get second day hair. NO, wait, that's a lie...I do get second day hair...it's called a pony tail.

The satin cap sounds good...but I'm pretty sure I'd catch hell from the bf over that one. He already dies lauging when he sees me in a shower cap.

Now, off to check out this modified pineapple....

My issue is - like I said before - I don't function at night. So, having to shower is just WAY beyond my ability at night. And trying to remember to do the proper pineapple?... I think I'd end up just re-doing my whole head in the morning because I'd forget to pineapple more often than not. HAHA! I'm just brain-dead at night. LMAO!
