Olive oil+my hair=?

I see that everyone is raving over olive oil and how it makes your hair soft, strong, etc. For some reason, it just doesn't work for me. Sure, I sometimes use it as a prepoo so my ends are protected but honestly, I don't see any astounding results. It doesn't do anything for me as a deep conditioner and forget about using it as a sealing agent...it just doesn't work for me.

What do you guys do in order for it to work?

Please, I'd love to see if i'm doing anything wrong.

I'm going to sound like a broken record today, I put olive oil in my rinseout conditioner and it has done wonders for my hair. My hair is silkier and the dry patch in my crown is doing much better. I highly recommend giving it a try if you suffer from dryness.
olive oil doesn't really do it for my hair either. castor oil makes my hair feel much softer.

Maybe you just haven't found the right oil yet. My hair used to hate olive oil, but after some time it started liking it. Who knows, one day my hair may hate olive oil again. I have discovered that my hair also likes apricot kernel oil which is very light.. have you tried anything lighter than olive oil?

My staples: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), Grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish & light hold)
I like to add it my deep conditioners or use it as a pre-poo scalp treatment with a few drops of rosemary essential oil.

I don't know; I've tried it with my leave-in and my curls weren't as bouncy. I tried it as a deep conditioner (applying to my hair but not actually diluting it in anything) and my hair didn't feel any softer.

I've used it as a prepoo but I didn't really know whether or not it actually helps and protects my hair.

Anyone here use coconut/jojoba oil?

I wanted to try it sometime but I wanted people's opinions on them and how they use them.

i second bekka's recommendation of trying apricot kernel oil for daily use. i know my hair prefers oils lighter than olive if i plan on using it every day. but castor oil works well for me because i only have to apply it once or twice a week.
I use jojoba oil now as a sealant, because I found that using olive oil as a sealant left my hair crunchy as all get out. I basically do what subbrock does with castor oil. I use a bit of LI and then layer on jojoba oil over it. My hair stays moisturized for quite a while, then as I move further from the day I originally styled my hair I'll use olive oil for the ends of my hair to make sure they're moisturized since they're tucked away because of the cold.

I also use Olive Oil as a deep conditioner, but I pair it with like mayo, some conditioner, honey, etc and it works out very well for my hair.

It seems like every time I oil my hair, it likes something new. Sometimes it loves olive oil, sometimes it hates it.
Hair type: Mostly 3C, medium porosity to high porosity depending on the day, dense, fluffy, dry, tangly!

coconut oil is the best detangler/prepoo for me.

I like olive oil as a light sealant, but recently I started mixing olive oil with castro oil to seal, and wow! didn't know what I was missing

check out castro oil if you can, I bought it at rite- aid for about $3, and coconut oil is pretty cheap too

I just posted in the 4a section how I really like Moroccan Argan Oil for my hair! It makes it really soft & it smells so good I got it from Sally Beauty Supply.

I usually put a small amount of that or olive oil on my hair after I get out of the shower. I put it on when my hair is wet, but not soaking wet.
