What is the absolute best curl definer??

On a good hair day, I think I'm a 3a. But there are always a few flat waves thrown in there, especially the bottom layer. Over time, I've found a few creams and definers that I really liked, but recently, they're just crapping out on me. I'm thinking I want to try an entirely new defining cream, since they are the kinds of products that usually work best for me.

I used Sunsilk Captivating Curls and Waves of Envy products until they were discontinued, and I have now been using Tigi Curls Rock Curl Amplifier, but the results nowadays are pretty bad. I get a LOT of crunch with very little definition.

I know my curls have potential, I've had great hair days, but I'm so stuck right now! The past few weeks have been filled with ponytails and hair straighteners! Help!

PS Price matters, nothing more than $20!
There are TONS of great curl definers out there. My hair prefers the more natural products, I have most of the ones I really like in my signature. I could NEVER limit my use to just one product.

Many of us rotate products. My hair has always satiated on product. Even back in my shampoo/conditioner only days (not so long ago.) I wet and style every day and seldom use any one product more then twice a week.

PS. I started out as a winter wavy/summer 3a. Being on nc.com taught me a lot about my hair and using styling products. Now my hair looks like my signature picture every day.

HGs: Anything Sevi; Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Curlycue ReNew and Coil Jam; homemade FSG and okra gel; soap bars; UFD Curly Magic; Botanical Spirits Jellies, CJ Repair Me, Marie Dean Leave Ins and Curl Creams
I like AG: Recoil and Kinky Curly Curling Custard (KCCC), but they are very different products. The KCCC is like a gel and the Recoil has a texture like peanut butter. I'm still experimenting to see which I prefer. As soon as the humidity hits, I'll have plenty of chances to experiment!

In the winter, when it is windy, I give up and do a roller set, because the wind just blows my curls to kingdom come and I have to wear a tight hat which crushes them anyway - so I give up on curls during the winter. It also lasts for 3 days, whereas when I am going curly, I have to wet my hair and redo each day which drives me nuts.
2/c and some 3A. Modified CG.
Protein sensitive
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
the CURLS line has brought significant definition to my curls. They have a drugstore line in target where everything is under $10 and contains no sulfates, mineral oil, silicone, petroletum or anything bad. I've been using the cashmere curls (this sadly is not sold at target, but on nc.com) then from target the brule cream followed by goddess gel- my hair has never looked better! the moisturizer is also great to define curls on 2nd day
