Am I a 2 or a 3a?

Am I a 2 or a 3a? I just died my hair red the day before yesterday and started no poo and plopping the day before, I know my hair isn't in the best shape, but I'd like an experts opinion on what my hair type will be when its healthy, thank u!

Love that color!

I love the color also! If I had to guess, I'd say 3A also, but I'm no expert at typing. You might look at some of the pictures of the 2C's and 3A's and that may help you decide.
2/c and some 3A.
Protein sensitive but can use occasionally
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
Thanks I've looked at some pictures, but couldn't really decide, but since I've been cowashing and plopping, my curls have really flourished. I'm fairly confident I'm a 3a now.... now I just need to find texture, porosity, and elasticity! Lol.

You look 3a to me. I think your hair looks great (you have great root curl in the back BTW) and I love your new color. Which dye did you use?

Thanks! Lol the funny thing about my root curl is I had absolutely NONE until I discovered plopping! Its amazing how much it changed my hair! I used Clairol naturals.... or something like that, but only to see if I liked the red. I am pretty sure I will use henna next time.. is ur color natural? Your hair is simply gorgeous!

Wow, I'm inspired to give plopping a try after seeing your roots! I can get some root curl and lift when I use a dab of aveda's light elements defining whip when my hair is wet, but never without it.

Thanks for the comment about my color! I use the color combo listed in my signature- clairol professional creme that I get at Sally's. But it's really the aveda madder red color conditioner that makes my hair more and more red each time I wash my hair. The far right pic in my signature is my hair about 6 weeks post coloring- you can see it's the reddest of all the pics because I used that color conditioner so much (of course the roots were dark by then.) The pic on the far left is how it looks right after coloring (taken indoors) and my avatar pic was taken shortly after coloring (taken outdoors).

Have you ever tried henna before? I didn't like it that much actually. I found it made my hair very dry feeling and didn't cover evenly and after using it for a while, it made the parts that faded from the sun brighter and brighter over time but never really did much to my roots. But my natural hair color is very dark brown. If yours is a lighter shade of brown or dirty blonde, then it might be better on you.

I'm on my phone so I can't see your siggy. I haven't tried henna before, thanks for the info though, I just assumed it would make my hair feel healthier. But if that isn't the case, I might just keep using what I did this time and invest in the condish u use!

My color combo is clairol professional creme from sally's in colors 5R and 4RR combined with equal parts 20 volume developer for my roots (and then same combo but only 10 volume developer for the rest of my hair during the last 10 minutes). I've been experimenting on the amounts of those two colors and lately have been doing it about 50-50. I think you'll really like the aveda madder root color condish. I use a generous amount and leave it on as long as I can. Then I rinse it out and finish with my usual condish because the color depositing stuff isn't enough mositure for curlies. Lately I've also been mixing in just a pea size of aveda's clove (brown) color condish with the madder red to give it a little more depth, but I would just start off with the madder root to see what you think. If it gets too bright, too orange or too pink (those are all the complaints I've heard about from others) then add a touch of the clove to calm it down.

I'm asking the same question- I think we curlies have a tendency to think we're curlier than we really are!
I thought I was 3A for sure, but now I wonder if I'm mostly 2C w/ some 3A. My pattern is so big-most waves don't make the full curl.
What do you think?

Kristin
-Mostly 3A, though wavy if not enough moisture (like when I lived in CO.).
-High dew point gives large ringlets, though smaller & tighter coils at neck.
-Med. texture, high density, normally porous?
-sulfate free, silicone free baby!
-searching for good stylers (but can't purchase living in China! must wait till summers to buy in US)

I've never had true CG friends to talk about this with, & no one in my family has curls (dad's hair would be like mine if grown out), so it's really awesome having CGs!

I looked at the 2 thread & feel I fit in there sometimes, but more often 3A. I see what both of you mean. I'm the one who posted "to thin or not to thin", which explains why my cut is so freaking crazy weird.

Thanks guys.
