Total Newbie

Hello,
I am a total newbie : registered to this website yesterday, still using sulfate shampoo... though my hair looks not bad I'm thinking of getting CG.
I am 3A, Fine texture, Average to low porosity, average elasticity, long hair (middle of the back).

What no-poo/low-poo (what is the difference) would you advise for my hair type ?
I'm using Trevor Sorbie Curl Cream/Spray and Taft curly mousse and also Spiral Splendour from L'Oreal, and I am quite satisfied for the moment, and I am also doing the Icequeen method (thinking of trying plopping).

The main issue is that I've just discovered the "elasticity, porosity..." thing and I don't really know what my hair needs : protein ? moisturizing ? No sulfate, ok this I get ! The main "problem" of my hair is the texture : they can quickly become limp and flyaway.

So : what do I need and which sulfate-free and conditioner should I buy ? your favorite brand ? The routine you advise ?

Thanks !
the search engine here is amazingly good. search:

live free, live curly!

abbreviations

also there's a post for newbies (sorry i don't rem. the name that is chalk full as well)

these are some things that have recently helped me TONS! if you're serious, start a doc. you can keep cut/pasting to otherwise you'll be super-scattered & not be able to find anything when you want it! mine's 18 pg & growing!

hope it helps!

-Mostly 3A, though wavy if not enough moisture (like when I lived in CO.).
-High dew point gives large ringlets, though smaller & tighter coils at neck.
-Med. texture, high density, normally porous?
-sulfate free, silicone free baby!
-searching for good stylers (but can't purchase living in China! must wait till summers to buy in US)

Sulfate free shampoo- my favorites are Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo and Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo. Both are under $10. Giovanni can be found at Walgreens, Target and Walmart, Desert Essence I bought at Whole Foods but can be found at health food stores and online. I like Giovanni a bit more cause I like the tingly feel.

Conditioner- I went through a few different varieties before I found what worked for me. Right now I am using Suave Naturals Juicy Green Apple. I got for $1 at Walgreens and I love it-smells great and I use it for co-washing AND as a rinse out and leave in. I have also used Tresemme Naturals with good results. I also have Garnier Pure Clean Conditioner, which I find works OK but can be heavy.

Honestly, routine comes with trial and error and practice. To start, look for CG method articles as mentioned above. I am constantly trying new things with my routine.

Basically, you want to low poo only a few times per week, co-wash a few times per week and re-wet your hair and add conditioner on all other days. I shower daily and either co-wash, low poo or just rewet and add conditioner. Then I get out of the shower, blot my hair with a flour sack towel, and scrunch in some gel. This can change day to day for me, some times I add other products. Then I either clip my hair at the roots or I plop with another flour sack towel.

I definitely recommend plopping: heres how to do it How to Plop

Ok, that was a lot, hope that helps. PM if you have questions and search the forums to gather as much info as you can.
