Super short pixie or not

I have been thinking about cutting all of my hair off for some time now. I love pixie cuts and think they are absolutely adorable and sexy. I can never get the courage to go through with it though when I get to the salon. I need some advice about how it would look on me and if I should go through with it. Last summer I chopped of 10 inches (that I donated to Lock of Love!) and it was the shortest its ever been. Near as I can tell I have 3a hair, it can get frizzy depending on the weather but nothing I can't manage. I also have a pretty roundish face.

I have an appointment in a week and need some advice soon!

Here is a link to a flicker account I made with pictures of my hair.

This is sort of what I want my hair to look like.

Thanks so much for your help!! Love you all!

I don't know how it would look, but just ask yourself the question- am i willing to go through manymanymany cuts in between growing it out & years of not having the hair you want? (obviously i'm jaded by these problems!)

i didn't go pixie short, but when i cut from long to short people asked me these questions & i pretty much said "yep, i'm ready". i had no idea the journey it would take me (2 yrs now). it's been worth it, i think, but super frustrating now that i want long CG curls.

food for thought!

Another thought - try looking for pictures of people with your same face shape and a pixi cut. The model in the picture you have has a very square face.

Here's a couple round faces with pixi cuts: (sorry so huge)

Oh my god, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair at its current length! Sexy and short - I definitely like it more than when it was long. To be honest, I'm not too sure about how a pixie cut would work. Your hair is already GREAT, I wouldn't change a thing! Very jealous.

Hi. Posted this to the wrong thread trying again. I've just gnu for my second pixie cut after having it long for about 8 years. It's the ultimate easy car style. Can be dramatic and sexy and cause it's so short you can experiment with colour as any damage grows out very fast. However if your hair curls close to the scalp(and loosing the extra hair weight may make it do so). It won't sit like the pics. Personally I find my curls add interest and movement to the cut and love it. But it took some getting used to (last time my hair wasn't as curly). N also I get little sticky out bits. Sleeping on them helps hair hat short doesn't have the length to straighten.

Last time it took me about 4 years to grow my hair out to a short pony. Largely I think because I kept getting fed up and cutting it again I hard it the whole 4 years. Having had it long now I think I'll have more patience next time I decide to grow it again.

I've had a short pixie cut for almost 3 years now. I'm in the growing out stages now, which is a total pain, but I loved having it short.

I cut it myself, and it was so super easy to care for. I used hardly any product - I didn't even use conditioner! It worked for my face shape and really brought out my facial features. I think it looks better on me than longer hair, but I've just grown tired of the short cut.

I love your pixie cut iroc, but I really love it at the slightly grown out stage! It still has a nice shape and is very flattering on you!

IROC! I love your pixie cut! You cut it yourself?? Growing out is the hardest part of having short hair... That's why I'm still just thinking about it.

I do cut it myself. Everytime I pay to have it cut, I'm not any more satisfied than I am when I cut it myself.

Unfortunately, when it's short, sometimes it takes a few times to get the look I want. And bc I cut it myself, I'm always cutting it. Makes growing it out a little tough!!

I've been doing it myself for 3 years. Been trying to grow it out for a year. Only recently been making progress.

Now it's about here (maybe a tad longer):

OK, just so you know, I'm showing this to my stylist. I have been searching everywhere for a curly pixie cut and you have exactly my curl! Love this cut, though you look great with it grown out as well.

That's such a compliment!

"hey, I want my hair to look like this girl who hacks her own hair off herself" lol!

Thank you!

It was around the time Victoria Beckham cut all hers off. I was angry bc I had done it first and they were all, Ooohh, she's the cutting edge of style. I'm like, uh, hello? No, I am!!

If I could get it to do this again, I'd be happy:

I agree with the poster who said to look for photos of your face shape with the same cut and style. I think someone's personality really comes into play with a pixie. But, not knowing you, I think you could totally pull it off!

I don't know how easy/hard this might be- but also try to look at your curl pattern and where your curls or waves turn or corkscrew. I notice that the back of my short hair looks a little funky because I think the hairs there are about to make a turn and they are flipping out strangely. You might want to adjust the length its cut to so its not flipping out (or is flipping out, if you want it messy). I think with this bold of a cut, that takes a long time to grow out, I would definitely seek out a curly salon and have a curl specialist cut it.

I have had a secret desire to go pixie for awhile now. But I feel like I can't pull it off. And if I feel that way, I probably cant! haha! My hair is your length now, you would think I would be able to make the leap! haha! If you get the cut, update us with pics!

Well, I go the pixie! LOVE IT! The lighting in this pic is too dark, but I also got it dyed auburn. I'll have to get a better pic taken soon.

gorgeous!

Wow! Thanks for posting pics! Your pixie cuts look gorgeous. Very inspiring.

I just can't wash and style my hair every day like I used to now that I have a toddler. I'm looking for something short, stylish and fast. I'm hoping that I can have something with bangs, so I may end up doing a little straightening around the front. I also think I need to go to the BEST stylist possible when I go short . . . hmm.

I used to have a pixie in my early 20s and loved it, got one again in mid-20s and loved it, but now that I'm in mid (or late!) 30s I'm a bit more timid. More wrinkles and such! I think for me, wearing eyeliner and dressing cooler will be key to pulling off a short cut.

OP, did you do the cut?
