Dont ever put banana in your hair
I did a banana and oil (coconut, grape seed, olive and almond) and honey DT for my dry curls and the banana was AWFUL. I pureed the mixture in a blender so I wouldn't have chunks of banana in my hair but it didn't help. It just made the banana chunks super fine to the point where when I put it in my hair it DID NOT wash out. The banana literally would not wash out of my hair. I took an hour and a half long shower and even had to shampoo (I've been no poo for over a year, so this was very upsetting) in desperate attempt to get it out. The banana was literally engrained in my hair. I used a quarter of a bottle of conditioner, as well, just to get my hair unknotted and to try to smooth the banana out, which helped a little bit but when I eventualy got out of the shower I still had a head full of soggy banana bits. I got most of the banana out with my hair brush (which was FULL of banana afterwards and super gross) but still ended up going to work with a little bit of banana in my hair still! On top of all that, my bathtub drain also became clogged with banana, which I had to disgustingly clean out later.
Long story short, this was the absolute WORST hair treatment ever and I will NEVER use banana on my hair ever again!

I have not personally used banana, however I had read alot of stories as well as comments from people who have and it seems that using an actual banana yields the same results you had. However I have heard of many people using the baby food banana's w/alot of success.

I tried it with avocado and olive oil once. Hated it. Made my scalp itch, hard to wash out, and messy, messy, messy. I was pulling banana chunks out of my hair for 2 days after that treatment....

Yeah. banana is just awful. I have never been so frustrated with a DT or any DIY beauty treatment before in my life. The banana baby food is actually a really good idea tho! Sounds much better than using countertop bananas

Don't you have to let the banana get over ripe to where it's almost liquid before using as a DCT?

Yeah I have never been so pissed at a fruit before! Lol it just really sucked because I had to go work retail with banana in my hair lol that must have looked ridiculous haha. Hmm idk about the strainer, unless its a super fine strainer then maybe that would work and I definitely used a ripe banana. Im sure using a black banana would have been much better since it would mush together better but my hair is NEVER going anywhere near a banana treatment ever again. EVER! It would be a good prank though

One step ahead..
I wanted to try it because I know banana can have positive results with hair and skin care due to natural ingredients that lie within them. I read the posts on here and was turned against it almost but decided to try anyways, regardless if it turned out to be a hassle. I mashed my bananas manually so there was a lot of pulp that remained in the mixture. I added egg, milk and extra virgin olive oil. Stirred it all together and literally dumped it on my head. Massaged it in from the root to tip and left it for a good hour. Mind you I have extremely long hair... Moderately thick, also. Now this may not help non-poo users, but for those who remain to use shampoo this is how you resolve the pulp remains in your hair. First wash it, I washed mine once.. I don't like to over wash my hair because of the alcohol that is an ingredient in 90% of shampoos. After that take conditioner and massage it throughout your hair as good as you can.. Take a brush to get rid of the bigger tangles that you can't avoid and brush them out. Now here's the trick, take a very fine toothed comb and from root to tip comb it out and rinse the comb every single time.. if you don't rinse it, it will just put the pulp right back in there. Taa Daa.. Now as far as the bathtub drain.. mine wasn't so bad. But I can't help you guys there.. But let me tell you.. afterwards, oh my gosh.. your hair is super soft and basically frizzless. Hope this has helped any of you.

The banana bits thing happened the first time I used it. The second time there were less of them. The third time was banana bitless. I let the banana ripen on the counter for a few days longer than normal and kept it at room temp. Smashed it up in the bowl first with the other ingredients (avocado, evoo, honey, coconut milk). Then dumped the whole mixture in the blender. Completely smooth!

It is said that over time it minimizes frizz.....I dunno about all that, but for me it's moisturizing and minimizes itching

I don't know why, but I do fine putting a banana in the blender along other stuff and it comes out clean when I co-wash. I do use over-ripe bananas do maybe it's because they're so soft.
I love using banana, greek yogurt, and eggs (my super protein pack).

I did a similar treatment thinger today. I ended up washing it and combing it out with a fine tooth comb and got (mostly) all of the chunks out. My hair doesn't feel all that different than when I detangle it normally. It just didn't work for my hair, plus it took FOREVER. For me it isn't worth it.
Just my experience though.
