Question How to style front of hair or bangs?

I really like the rest of my hair curly, but I have always struggled with how to deal with the front. The front doesn't seem to be as curly, but tends to have a cowlick near the part. I have tried to fight this in past by straightening the bangs with heat, but I'd like to get away from using harsh heat on my hair and the straight bangs look. I usually part my hair in the middle, but sometimes on the side. My bangs are currently a jawline length, but I am willing to cut or grow out. Are curly bangs really taboo or is there a way to make it work? Any styling advice or pictures would be much appreciated.

I have that problem too...so I usually use the curling iron on a few pieces in front but would love to be able to just leave the front curly. The hair in bang area seems to be "woolier" than the rest of my hair. Could be heat damage however I use good shampoo, conditioners etc.

when I do "bangs" I usually deep part my hair on the side and pin the bangs up with a bobby pin or fun hair clip.

Nutmegan I have that problem too! The curls in back look fine but front tends to b unruly so I either wear a head band or wear front part pulled back. I want to be able to wear it ALL down without accessories. When I do, I have a big triangle head a la "rosanne Rosannadanna"! Ugh. I know I'm in serious need of a good haircut but am wondering too if I need more layers, shorter bangs? Bangs currently past jawline. Sorry I can't help u but at least u know ur not alone!!

Mine bangs are about the same length as the girl on the cover of the newest Curl Girl Handbook:

Amazon.com: Curly Girl:The Handbook eBook: Lorraine Massey, Michele Bender: Kindle Store

Although, my hair is longer than hers and bit more curly than hers. I usually part mine to the side and either use a curling iron on them to make them do what I want or a most of the time I blow dry them with a round brush and then re-wet them just a little. The blow dry/re-wet method usually give me some great curls with some volume in the front.

some days they look better than others, but I look terrible without some sort of bang...
