I actually disliked this interview. Not Marsha but the interviewer rubbed me the wrong way.

I agree. I love Curl Junkie but that journalist was . I'm not sure why she had to keep stating the CJ sales $ and the fact that NC was founded by white women.

Thank you!!! And I'm like she kept mentioning that the company makes this amount of money, this idiot knows nothing of how much money you actually have to SPEND to pay folks, create products, have them tested in a lab, pay your shipper...among your own living expenses. You can easily have more money going out than coming in by the time you're done with everything.

What is this damn journalist's name, I have a good mind to tell her what I think.

You're welcome.

Let us know if you get a response.

I wasn't offended by the money mention on the first read. I looked at it as the writer's measure of success.

But, on a reread, coupled with the comment about being vague about numbers, then yeah, it looked odd.

And, yeah, why does the race of the NC founders play into that?

As a policy analyst, I spend all darn day being CRITICAL. I get what you guys are saying. One hand, yes, there are some less than pc undertones a race, class, and gender analyst would devour - stuff we'd expect from mass media. On the other hand, it provides a smidgen of insight into a growing business trend created for and dominated by women and people of color - stuff mass media typically overlooks.

Hmmm....I wonder what Marcia thinks.

Makes me want to research how other curly hair moguls are being written about and described in mass media and do a comparison study.....Damn! You see, now I'm distracted...I hate being a nerd!

Marsha...

I doubt she was overly thrilled with it.
