The media and curly hair.

It seems like the media wants to say a beautiful hair is a straight hair. I can barely see models, actresses or singers with curly hair, as if it wasn't as beautiful as straight hair. I think that's why sometimes it is harder to love your curly hair and I really would like to do something to change it and see famous girls enhancing their curly hair.
You know....I think its going to take a nation-wide, extended power loss or mass trending to make curly hair the most desirable hair type. Like, there needs to be another Renaissance or 1980's or something! haha!

Here are a few things that came to mind that I want to throw out there:

1) Most people have straight hair. And wish desperately it was curly, or wish they had more volume at the least. I'm sure nearly EVERYONE reading this forum has been told "people pay good money for your type of hair" or "you're so lucky you can wear your hair both ways!". So, really, people are jealous of curly hair. And because most people don't have it, its not the mass trend. And because most people who have it don't want it/ dont know what to do with it to make it look good, its not a mass trend or a topic that those in the media think people want to know about.

2) A HUGE, major fashion icon and actress has had, and sported, curly hair. Sarah Jessica Parker. Even if you don't like her or don't like/never watched SATC- that show, and SJP herself, had a MAJOR impact on American women, fashion and style. If there was a show that huge, and an acress that popular, one that was constantly in magazines and gossip puplications...and SHE couldn't make curly ultra popular....then I don't know what will! haha!

3) Because its rare, and so few people really truly ROCK their curly hair if they have it...we should be GLAD! It makes those who do embrace it stand out more! =)

I hear what you're sayin', though. It would be nice if it were seen as more desirable by the media. Maybe one of us CG's should write a column for a fashion and beauty mag addressing curly issues. I think if more curly haired people knew what to do, what to use, etc. - they would do it!
